What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It's the practice of optimizing your website to rank higher in search engine results pages (SERPs) such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo. The goal is to increase organic (non-paid) traffic to your website by ensuring it appears more prominently when users search for relevant keywords.

Why is SEO Important?

In today's digital age, where competition online is fierce, SEO is crucial for several reasons:

  1. Increased Visibility: Higher rankings mean more visibility. Most users tend to click on one of the top few results, so being there increases your chances of attracting clicks.

  2. Credibility: Websites that appear higher in search results are often perceived as more credible and trustworthy.

  3. Cost-Effectiveness: Compared to paid advertising, SEO can provide long-term benefits without the ongoing cost per click.

SEO on Wix: How to Optimize Your Website

Wix is a popular platform for building websites, offering a user-friendly interface that doesn't require extensive technical knowledge. Here’s how you can optimize your Wix website for SEO:

1. Keyword Research

  • Identify Relevant Keywords: Use tools like Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs, or SEMrush to find keywords relevant to your business and audience.

  • Long-Tail Keywords: Target specific, longer phrases that potential customers might use. These often have less competition and higher conversion rates.

2. On-Page SEO

  • Title Tags: Each page should have a unique, descriptive title (up to 70 characters) that includes your primary keyword.

  • Meta Descriptions: Write compelling meta descriptions (up to 160 characters) that summarize the page content and include keywords.

  • Headings: Use H1, H2, H3 tags to structure your content. Include keywords naturally where relevant.

  • URL Structure: Keep URLs short, descriptive, and include keywords (e.g., yoursite.com/about-us).

3. Content Optimization

  • Quality Content: Create high-quality, valuable content that addresses your audience’s needs. This could be blog posts, product descriptions, or guides.

  • Keyword Placement: Naturally incorporate keywords throughout your content, including headings, subheadings, and body text.

  • Readability: Use clear, concise language. Break up content with bullet points, images, and subheadings for better readability.

4. Mobile Optimization

  • Mobile-Friendly Design: Ensure your Wix website is responsive and looks good on mobile devices. Google prioritizes mobile-friendly sites in its rankings.

5. Site Speed

  • Loading Times: Optimize images, enable browser caching, and minimize HTTP requests to improve site speed. Use Wix’s built-in tools for optimizing images.

6. Technical SEO

  • XML Sitemap: Wix automatically generates a sitemap.xml file. Submit it to Google Search Console to help search engines index your site.

  • SSL Certificate: Ensure your site has an SSL certificate (HTTPS) for secure browsing. Wix provides this automatically for all websites.

7. Link Building

  • Internal Links: Link related pages within your site to help users navigate and improve SEO.

  • External Links: Earn backlinks from reputable websites in your industry. Guest blogging, partnerships, and content promotion can help.

8. Monitor and Improve

  • Analytics: Use Wix Analytics or integrate Google Analytics to track your website’s performance. Monitor traffic, rankings, and user behavior.

  • Continuous Improvement: SEO is an ongoing process. Regularly update content, refresh keywords, and adapt to algorithm changes to maintain and improve rankings.

SEO on Wix involves understanding your audience, creating valuable content, optimizing technical aspects, and continuously monitoring and improving. While Wix simplifies the process with its intuitive platform, success ultimately depends on implementing best practices consistently and adapting to the evolving landscape of search engine algorithms.

How To Price Your SEO Services / How To Get SEO Clients:

Getting SEO Clients should not be something you do on its own until you get REALLY good at it. This means that ideally you will be doing this as an add on service for your website clients to make more money and spice up the clients success story.

Pricing for SEO is super simple, here is how I do it:

Non Profit / School / Church - $3,000 One Time Fee for 3 Months of SEO (Bundled with Website at $4,000 and includes 3 months of free maintenance, renewed at $120/month maintenance after the 3 months & option to renew SEO services at $3,000 for another 3 months).

For Profit / Corporation / Business - $4,000 - $5,000 One Time Fee for 3 Months of SEO (Bundled with Website at $4,500 and includes 3 months of free maintenance, renewed at $120/month maintenance after the 3 months & option to renew SEO services at $4,000 for another 3 months).

How To Fulfil SEO Services For Clients:

If you have literally zero idea of anything SEO and these basics do not make you feel too confident in starting to offer this service to clients if it means you have to fulfil the service yourself, you can do what I do.

Head over to https://www.upwork.com/ and make yourself a client account.

With this account go to the "Search Talent" section and type in "SEO Specialist"

Choose the one with great reviews and lots of past projects, ideally you will choose the one which only charges a few dollars per hour, this will keep your costs down and profits up.

I always recommend putting a bonus on the table for the contractor of a couple hundred (usually $300) contingent on a good job being done, this will add extra motivation to your contractor to make sure they do the best job possible.

In the end if you charge $4,000 you will have somewhere in the realm of $3,500 in profit at the end of the 3 months.
